Siva Afi - The Samoan Fireknife Dance
Siva Afi  is Samoan for " fire dance".
This unique form of entertainment is purely Samoan, it began with
Paramount Chief Letuli Olo Misilagi - also known as "Freddie Letuli".

Letuli  had a passion for his Samoan culture and a great desire to pass on his knowledge, skill, and love of the Siva Afi, the fireknife dance.

Because of this desire, the Nifo Oti Club of American Samoa was born.
"Nifo Oti" means "Tooth of Death, the name of an ancient Samoan weapon
upon which the modern dancing knife was based.

In 2003 Letuli and his family formed  "Flaming Sword of Samoa" , an association which hosted the first annual "American Samoa World Fireknife Competition". This three day event was held in May, just two months before the "Father of the Fireknife Dance" passed on .

The young men and boys of the Nifo Oti Club are the last of Letuli's students - those  whom he encouraged and mentored.

It is a blessing for us to share his passion with you
